De ideale ditherfish en de vissen die een aquarium tot leven brengen. Een uitgebreide selectie van wildvang en aquariumvarianten maakt het mogelijk om elk aquarium een uniek karakter te geven. In dit gedeelte wordt ingegaan op de verschillende soorten die ikzelf houd en kweek, met een gedetailleerd overzicht van de verzorging, voeding en mijn eigen selectiecriteria.
In my opinion, the corydora is a crucial fish for any aquarium. These fish constantly sift through the substrate, breaking down waste materials in the process. This promotes faster decomposition of these substances, helping to create a more balanced and stable aquarium ecosystem. The care, breeding, and selection of corydoras therefore deserve special attention.
Naar mijn mening is de corydora een cruciale vis in elk aquarium. Deze vis zoekt constant het substraat af en helpt daarmee om eventuele afvalstoffen verder af te breken. Dit bevordert een snellere verwerking van deze stoffen, wat bijdraagt aan een stabiel en evenwichtig ecosysteem in het aquarium. Het houden, kweken en selecteren van corydoras verdient hier dan ook extra aandacht.
Often referred to as a "cleaner," the ancistrus is a well-known species in the aquarium world. What is often mistakenly described as Ancistrus dolichopterus is not the only option for your aquarium. In this subcategory, I aim to explain my methods for each species in as much detail as possible, along with any findings I have gathered.
Vaak aangeduid als een "schoonmaker" is de ancistrus een bekende vis binnen de aquariumwereld. Wat vaak onterecht wordt beschreven als de Ancistrus dolichopterus, is echter niet de enige optie voor uw aquarium. Binnen deze subcategorie probeer ik mijn methodes zo gedetailleerd mogelijk uit te leggen voor elke soort, samen met mijn bevindingen.
As a complement to Corydoras, freshwater shrimp play an important role in maintaining a balanced aquarium. These small cleaners remove leftover food from even the smallest corners, helping to prevent waste buildup and decay. An important subgroup is the Neocaridina shrimp: a robust and highly adaptable species that thrives in almost any freshwater aquarium. That is why these useful helpers can be found in all of my aquariums, in a variety of colors. However, they are certainly not the only option — the world of freshwater shrimp offers many other interesting species, each with their own characteristics and applications.
Als aanvulling op Corydoras dragen zoetwatergarnalen sterk bij aan een evenwichtig aquarium. Deze kleine opruimers verwijderen voedselresten uit de kleinste hoekjes, waardoor vervuiling en rotting worden voorkomen. Een belangrijke subcategorie zijn de Neocaridina-garnalen: een robuuste en aanpasbare soort die zich moeiteloos thuis voelt in vrijwel elk zoetwateraquarium. Daarom zijn deze nuttige helpers in al mijn aquaria terug te vinden, en dit in verschillende kleurvarianten. Toch zijn zij zeker niet de enige optie — binnen de wereld van zoetwatergarnalen bestaan er nog tal van andere interessante soorten, elk met hun eigen eigenschappen en toepassingen.
The animals in this category are often sold as live food, but they also play a crucial role as the macro cleaning crew. Although rarely seen in the aquarium, they are always hard at work. The constant presence of live food can make a significant difference for successful breeding in some of the previously mentioned species. Additionally, maintaining a thriving culture of these animals in the aquarium provides a valuable buffer of food.
De dieren binnen deze categorie worden vaak verkocht als levend voer, maar ze vervullen ook een belangrijke rol als macro-schoonmaakploeg. Hoewel ze zelden zichtbaar zijn in het aquarium, zijn ze continu hard aan het werk. De constante aanwezigheid van levend voer kan bij sommige van de eerder genoemde soorten ook het verschil maken voor een succesvolle kweek.
