In my opinion, the corydora is a crucial fish for any aquarium. These fish constantly sift through the substrate, breaking down waste materials in the process. This promotes faster decomposition of these substances, helping to create a more balanced and stable aquarium ecosystem. The care, breeding, and selection of corydoras therefore deserve special attention.
Often referred to as a "cleaner," the ancistrus is a well-known species in the aquarium world. What is often mistakenly described as Ancistrus dolichopterus is not the only option for your aquarium. In this subcategory, I aim to explain my methods for each species in as much detail as possible, along with any findings I have gathered.
As a complement to Corydoras, freshwater shrimp play an important role in maintaining a balanced aquarium. These small cleaners remove leftover food from even the smallest corners, helping to prevent waste buildup and decay. An important subgroup is the Neocaridina shrimp: a robust and highly adaptable species that thrives in almost any freshwater aquarium. That is why these useful helpers can be found in all of my aquariums, in a variety of colors. However, they are certainly not the only option — the world of freshwater shrimp offers many other interesting species, each with their own characteristics and applications.
The animals in this category are often sold as live food, but they also play a crucial role as the macro cleaning crew. Although rarely seen in the aquarium, they are always hard at work. The constant presence of live food can make a significant difference for successful breeding in some of the previously mentioned species. Additionally, maintaining a thriving culture of these animals in the aquarium provides a valuable buffer of food.
Everything in this webshop is personally used within my aquarium hobby. Selling products without firsthand experience does not fit the philosophy of SEGO.
