GUPPY 

Although the guppy is often seen as a typical “beginner fish,” this is only true when it has been bred correctly and with clear goals in mind. A strong, healthy bloodline with proper selection ensures that the fish is easy to keep, adapts well, and breeds reliably. Without this focus on quality and sustainability, only the color variety often remains, while health, resistance, and lifespan decline. This makes the guppy far less simple than it is often assumed to be. The lines discussed below show that responsible breeding goes far beyond appearance alone. This keeps the guppy not only as a beautiful fish, but also as a species that both beginners and experienced breeders can truly enjoy for many years.

WILDVORMEN / WILD-TYPES

For more experienced hobbyists, wild-type variants offer the ideal challenge. These fish often require a more specialized setup, depending on how many generations they have already been established in the hobby. These often “brown” or less colorful fish can sometimes hide true gems that only the most passionate aquarist can fully appreciate and bring to their full potential.
